Dry eye is a common condition affecting an estimated 344 million people worldwide. For many, it can significantly disrupt daily life—causing irritation, discomfort, and a constant reliance on eye drops that offer only temporary relief.

At The Door W4, we offer an advanced, long-term solution for dry eye using InMode’s Envision platform. Led by award-winning optometrist Sharon Flora, this innovative treatment targets the underlying causes of dry eye rather than simply masking the symptoms. By combining radiofrequency (RF) and intense pulsed light (IPL) technologies, Envision provides a comprehensive and effective approach to managing chronic dry eye.

Recently, we welcomed Alice Hart-Davis, an acclaimed aesthetic journalist with over 25 years of industry experience, to The Door W4 to experience the Envision treatment for herself. Under Sharon Flora’s expert care, Alice underwent both RF and IPL treatments to address the root cause of her dry eye symptoms.

“I’m delighted it’s made such a difference. I don’t need eye drops during the night anymore, which is wonderful.”

Understanding Dry Eye: Causes and Challenges

Dry eye can present as irritation, grittiness, burning, or excessive watering—often leading people to depend on frequent use of eye drops. Ironically, watery eyes are often a sign of dryness, as the eye attempts to compensate for an unstable tear film.

The condition is commonly caused by dysfunction of the meibomian glands, which are responsible for producing the oils that prevent tears from evaporating too quickly. Risk factors include prolonged screen use, contact lens wear, hormonal changes, and ageing. Women are particularly prone to dry eye, especially during menopause, when hormonal shifts can impair gland function and reduce tear quality.

While lubricating eye drops may offer short-term comfort, they do not address the underlying gland dysfunction. More advanced treatments—such as InMode’s Envision—are designed to treat the root cause of chronic dry eye.

How InMode’s Envision Treatment Works

At The Door W4, InMode’s Envision treatment is used to restore healthy tear production through a combination of two proven technologies:

Radiofrequency (RF)
RF gently warms the area around the eyes, stimulating the meibomian glands and helping to clear blockages. This improves oil flow, which is essential for maintaining a stable, healthy tear film.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
IPL reduces inflammation and improves circulation around the eyes. It also targets abnormal blood vessels that contribute to gland blockage, redness, and irritation—helping calm the eye area and support long-term comfort.

Together, these technologies work to treat dry eye at its source rather than offering temporary symptom relief.

Alice Hart-Davis’ Experience with Envision

Before treatment, Alice had struggled with dry eye for years and relied heavily on eye drops.
“I had eye drops on my desk, by the bed, in my handbag—I didn’t go anywhere without them.”

She also experienced constant watering, which she later discovered was a response to underlying dryness.
“I didn’t realise my eyes were watering because they were fundamentally dry. The tear film just wasn’t working as it should, so the eye was compensating.”

During her visit to The Door W4, Alice underwent a comprehensive eye assessment with Sharon Flora to identify the causes of her symptoms. Her Envision treatment began with RF to stimulate the meibomian glands, followed by IPL to reduce inflammation and improve circulation.

While she noted that parts of the treatment could feel uncomfortable, Alice felt the results made it worthwhile.
“It’s a necessary discomfort to get the result you’re looking for.”

After completing her sessions, Alice experienced a significant improvement in comfort, clarity, and tear stability.
“I’m delighted it’s made such a change. I don’t need eye drops during the night anymore, which is great.”
